Licorice Extract
Licorice extract from the root is a traditional oriental medicine. It was well known for its medicinal effects and has been used widely for food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, tobacco, etc.

If Glycyrrhizinic acid, which is the main element of licorice, is contained more than 50% in a product, that product is called a refined licorice extract. If it is contained less thatn 50%, the product is called manufactured licorice extract. All licorice extract products have Glycythizinic acid's sweetening effect(a pure Glycyrhizinic acid is 200times sweeter than sugar)and taste-Purifying effect and thus they are used widely in such products as sauces seasoned fodds, confections and drinks.
